Chen currently leads UX for AI Interpreter at Microsoft Teams, designing how language moves through Town Halls and Webinars at the scale of global audiences. Her work sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence and live communication, where milliseconds of latency and thousands of simultaneous voices become the conditions of the design itself.
Prior chapters include Microsoft Excel and a series of early-stage startups. Over five years, she has shipped AI-powered experiences to millions, directed design for large-scale virtual events, and co-founded an iOS application that reached the App Store.
She holds a B.S. in Cognitive Science from UC San Diego, with a specialization in machine learning and neural computation and a minor in human-computer interaction. There, she co-led Design Co, the largest design community on campus, in close partnership with Don Norman and the Design Lab — a formation that taught her to move fluently between the languages of designers, engineers, and researchers.
A third-culture upbringing between Taiwan and California — two distinct centers of technological imagination — shaped an early attention to how systems quietly reshape the way people live, work, and connect.
Along the way: stickers sold online, a zipper patented. Chen is a designer and a builder, most herself when the problem is hard and design becomes the leverage for real invention.
Microsoft Teams — Lead Product Designer, since 2025
Leading AI Interpreter into Microsoft Teams live events, so multilingual audiences — at 14M+ attendee scale — can join in their own language. I shape product direction for AI inside production workflows, bridging real-time translation, streaming, and content orchestration, and partner with PM and engineering leadership on a multi-year AI roadmap. Along the way I’ve shipped five+ core production and streaming features that keep live broadcasts reliable at enterprise scale.
Nomadii — Co-founder & Head of Design, 2025
Co-founded an AI travel companion and led product vision, design, and brand from 0→1. The product anchors planning in identity: a quick archetype quiz, then an LLM-driven system that turns abstract preferences into structured, repeatable itineraries. Drove the path to iOS launch through tight cycles of prototyping, user insight, and prompt design.
Microsoft Teams — Product Designer II, 2022–2025
Designed Production Studio (0→1) — the producer-facing surface that turned internal tooling into a professional-grade event platform powering Town Halls and Webinars. Reframed “Manage what attendees see” into a clearer model; monthly usage grew from 884 to 10,132 (~1,860%). Worked horizontally across AI teams to define Copilot interaction models, and helped align 50+ designers across meetings, calling, and devices.
Microsoft Family Safety — Product Designer, 2020–2022
Designed screen time and content moderation AI across iOS, Android, Web, Windows, and Xbox — prototyping AI-assisted safety features for parental controls, and introducing a discovery framework that lifted feature adoption.
BDBD — Product Designer, 2019–2020
Redesigned an internal troubleshooting platform used by 1,500+ support engineers, projected to reduce support call volume by 40%.
VVerci NYC — Active member
A curated network of founders, builders, and creatives. I show up for the conversations at the intersection of startups, technology, and culture.
TTTikTok — 28,900+ community
Created and produced content that generated 11M+, 3.8M+, and 2M+ views, and collaborated with Netflix to promote the Stranger Things & Bridgerton experiences.
DCDesign Co — Director of Industry Relations
Built and scaled a campus design community by partnering with industry designers to lead workshops — averaging 98+ attendees per event — and drove collaborations with design teams from Facebook, Netflix, Intuit, and Lyft.
